Library Visit Guidelines for Library Patrons

Welcome back library patrons! With our safety protocols in place, our goal is to provide in-person library service again while keeping everyone safe and healthy.

We are delighted to welcome you back to our buildings. During your visit, you will see:

- Required face masks*
- Clear plexiglass shields on circulation and reference desks
- Signs encouraging you to maintain a distance from others of at least six feet
- Hand sanitizer
- Fewer chairs and limited seating
- Distanced computers
- One-way aisles
- Periodic sanitizing activity
 

Additional safety protocols include:

- A strict 1-hour visit per day for each library patron.
- No food and/or beverages will be permitted inside the building.
- We will not be offering in-person help with computer or copier equipment at our branches.
 

Please note, contactless pick up is still available by appointment for customers who do not want to enter our buildings.

WILL CUSTOMERS BE REQUIRED TO WEAR MASKS?

Face masks are required to enter any Portage County District Library building.*
Children under the age of 2 are not required to wear face masks.

WHAT IS THE LIBRARY DOING TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF LIBRARY PATRONS AND STAFF?

The Library is taking many steps to create the safest possible environment.

- Capacity limits have been set in place which limit the number of library patrons allowed in branch buildings.
Branch capacity limits include (subject to change):

Aurora: 30
Garrettsville: 30
Streetsboro: 20
Windham: 15
Randolph: 8

Additionally, we will not be providing the materials for patrons to complete crafts inside the building.  We will not be providing any shared office supplies for patron use, this includes scissors, staplers, 3-hole punches, and white-out.  Toys and other interactive activities will not be available in our youth spaces, and our meeting rooms will remain closed. Returned materials will be quarantined for 96 hours. Material may only be returned through outdoor book drops.

WHICH SPECIALTY SERVICES WILL BE AVAILABLE?

The Library’s fax/copier machines, public computers and printers will be available for use once branches reopen, but staff will not be available for in-person help with this equipment. If you have specific questions about a service, please call your local branch before visiting.

 

WHEN WILL STORYTIMES AND OTHER PROGRAMS RESUME?

We do not have any date set for resuming any in-person programs for patrons. 

 

CAN I DROP OFF BOOK DONATIONS?

At this time, we cannot accept book donations.
