Young Adult Librarian
Library Associate III

Location: Aurora Memorial Branch
Salary: $15.40 Hourly. Wages and terms of employment are covered by the collective bargaining agreement between the Portage County District Library (PCDL) and District 1199, SEIU.
Hours: Average of 20 hours per week, includes evenings and weekends.  Hourly, Non-exempt, Bargaining Unit.

Position Summary:  
To provide library services to patrons with a focus on Young Adult resources and programming.

Qualifications:  Undergraduate four (4) year degree and applicable experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  
Knowledge of young adult literature. Skill in preparing and implementing youthprograms.  Ability to maintain young adult area of the library. Ability to develop good rapport with library patrons, supervisors and co-workers. See Position Description for additional requirements

Library Branch Manager
Garrettsville and Windham Branches

Location: Garrettsville Branch and Windham Branch
Salary: $54,995 a year
Hours: 40 hours, exempt, weekdays, with some nights, weekends

Position Summary:  
The Branch Manager is responsible for managing the daily operation of the Garrettsville and Windham branches. Responsibilities include supervising, training, and scheduling staff.  The Branch Manager will coordinate and evaluate branch programs and services. This position also represents the library at community events and acts as a liaison between local groups and the library.  The Branch Manager is part of the administrative team and participates in immediate and long-term planning of the library’s services within its service community.

Qualifications:  Masters of Library Science degree or within six months of obtaining the degree and related work experience.  Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  
Knowledge of library goals and objectives; library science and technology, public relations; management and supervision techniques; budgeting; operation of library equipment; computer operations and functions including data processing techniques.  Job description located below.

Public Relations and Development Manager

Location: Garrettsville Administration Office
Salary: $50,481 a year
Hours: 40 hours, exempt

Position Summary:  
The Public Relations and Development Manager is responsible for promoting library programs and services to the community and serving as the primary point-of-contact for media relations purposes. The Public Relations and Development manager will identify opportunities to promote the library service to the community. This position also represents the library at community events and acts as a liaison between local groups and the library. The Public Relations and Development Manager is part of the administrative team and participates in immediate and long-term planning of the library’s services within its service community.

Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree in a field related to public relations or communications, experience in grant writing and donor relations, library experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  
Knowledge of library goals and objectives; excellent communication skills including public speaking; understanding of principles and practices of public relations and marketing; understanding of print mediums, especially desktop publishing and graphics; ability to adhere to best practices in administering social media platforms for a public organization; knowledge of grant writing process from application to reporting, ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions (e.g. research procedure, policy development and interpretation); plan, schedule and organize work; prepare meaningful, concise and accurate reports; establish cooperative work environment at both branch and interdepartmental levels; develop good rapport with library patrons.

SUBSTITUTE Outreach Services Driver & Materials Delivery Driver

Portage County District Library system is looking for people to work on an “as needed” basis to fill in for our delivery drivers working out of our Garrettsville Branch.

Hourly Rate: $11.49/hour Materials Delivery Driver Substitute
         $14.17/hour Outreach Services Substitute

Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalency. Valid Ohio Driver’s License with good driving record. Ability to move materials from one location to another.  Position requires physical agility including the ability to bend, stoop, reach, climb and lift 40 pounds. Ability to perform general building repairs and maintenance. Availability to work during regular Library hours is necessary.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  Good driving skills.  Ability to follow instructions in written, oral and picture form. Knowledge and skill in general maintenance and minor repairs of facilities, furniture and equipment. Ability to demonstrate physical fitness required for extended periods of manual labor.   Job description located below.
