Portage County District Library (PCDL) is currently in final stages of preparing to reopen for public browsing. Due to budgetary shortfalls resulting from the economic effects of COVID-19, two of the library's branch locations will have a small reduction in operating hours. This change in operating hours will take place on Monday, July 27 and will be reflected in times open for contactless pick-up of holds, as well as hours when the buildings become open to the public.
The Aurora Memorial and Garrettsville branches' reduced hours will be Mondays and Tuesdays from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm; Wednesdays and Fridays from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm; Saturdays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm; and closed on Thursdays and Sundays. There will be no changes to library service hours for the three remaining branches- Pierce Streetsboro, Randolph, and Windham.
PCDL currently relies entirely on the state of Ohio's Public Library Fund for our financial support. Because of this, a decrease in the statewide sales and income tax collections has a greater impact on our budget than it does for other libraries in our area, all of which also receive funding from local property taxes.
